In 2010, Le Rosey offers 4 summer sessions with different locations, dates and programmes offered. While checking the programmes, you should take into consideration the age group for the camp (ex: Gstaad My Family! is open to younger students), the activities (ex: Gstaad My Adventure! is for students who really enjoy sport), the academic programme and the location. Every year, we offer new activities according to the requests and needs of the campers.
Can I do two summer sessions?
Yes you can. Your parents must complete both registrations and pay for both prior to your arrival.
When is the deadline for enrolment?
There is no deadline for enrolment, but the sooner the better!
Are boarding houses mixed?
Le Rosey has a co-educational system but boys and girls live on two close campuses - if you are attending Le Classique or Le Summer School. In Gstaad, boys and girls live in separate buildings and at "The Excellence Camp" in separate cabins.
Where do the students usually come from?
The number of students from any one country is limited to 10% of the total student body. In general, 40% are Europeans, 30% Americans (North, Central and South) and 30% Asian or Africans.
How are we roomed?
Most of the rooms are double and students are allocated to rooms based on their age. If you don’t have any special request, we will automatically put you with a student of a different nationality; he/she might not even speak the same language as you!
Am I allowed to room with a friend?
Yes you can, as long as you are the same age and your friend has not requested to room with somebody else.
What time should my parents bring me on the first day?
You should arrive between 9:00am and 5:00pm on the first day.
Can somebody pick me up at the airport?
Along with your enrolment confirmation, we will send your parents an “Arrival /Departure” form that must be returned prior to your arrival. If you arrive on your own, you will be met outside the custom clearance gate by a Rosey representative. On departure day, if you’re also travelling alone, you will be taken to the airport in time for check-in and helped with the procedures.
I can’t come on the opening day of the programme. What happens if I arrive 2 days late or leave early?
If, exceptionally, you require an airport transfer on days other than the start and end dates of camp, we will arrange for a taxi, but there will be an extra charge (Rolle – Geneva airport CHF 120.- / Gstaad –Geneva airport CHF 500.-).
If you have registered at "The Excellence Camp", please note that late arrivals and early departures will not be accepted.
How can I stay in contact with my parents?
Your parents may send you messages, faxes or emails any time. Once you have received your schedule, you may wish to arrange with them a good time, during your free time or in the evening, to be reached by phone. They may also call you at mealtimes and reception will transfer the call to you.
May I be changed to a different level of language class if it is too difficult or too easy after the first few days?
Yes you may. All campers sit a short test to evaluate their level. If your teacher considers that your class does not correspond to your level, he/she will inform the Head of Academics and change your class accordingly. However, during the Classique camp, you may not change your morning academic schedule from 1 to 2 periods or vice versa.
Can I change my sport / art activities after the first few days?
Yes! Sports and art activities can be changed with the Head of Sports during the first week of the camp only.
I am a vegetarian. Can I request special meals?
Of course! You just need to tell us when you arrive and the Chef will provide a special menu for you. We welcome students from all over the world with different religious beliefs or dietery requirements. A large salad buffet is always provided, and dishes containing pork are clearly labelled.
What if I get sick or injured?
The boarding house teachers watch over your health. Nurses live on campus and look after all cases of sickness or accidents. They are in constant touch with doctors; they look after medical and dental appointments and the regular taking of medicine where necessary.
Am I covered for illness and accident?
The school's insurance only covers students for accidents. Students need to have medical insurance cover.
Is there a laundry service?
The school supplies all bed-linen, towels and a dressing gown. Dirty laundry is collected around twice per week for washing and ironing. Don’t forget to check that your clothes are marked with your name before giving them to the laundry!
If you are registered at "The Excellence Camp", please end sure that you bring enough clothes for two weeks!
What do we do at weekends?
Saturday morning is taken up by classes. The weekend therefore starts midday Saturday until Sunday evening. If you are not invited for the weekend by your parents or, with parental agreement, by your family or a friend, you can take part, according to your wishes, in excursions, outings, visits to town, theme evenings and discos organized by the boarding staff.
How much pocket money do I need?
We advise you to bring approx. 400 CHF to cover your personal expenses such as shopping at the weekend, cafeteria, stamps, phone calls, excess baggage, etc. You will be asked to leave your money with the Head of the Camp upon their arrival. You will be able to get your pocket money at scheduled times. Once you receive your money, it is up to you to be responsible for it. Safes are provided in every room. If you’re traveling as UM (Unaccompanied Minor), the UM service must be paid prior to departure. The remaining balance of pocket money is given to you upon departure.
Will I be able to go shopping with my friends?
During camp, several excursions are offered, giving you the chance to do some shopping (Geneva, Lausanne, Gstaad, Montreux, etc.) under the supervision of a teacher.
Will I receive a certificate at the end of the Camp?
Yes, every camper receives a summer camp certificate and academic record (except at the "Gstaad My Adventure camp" and "The Excellence Camp") which is sent to parents after camp. On the last day, at the end of the camp ceremony, you might also receive medals or other awards if you have excelled in an activity
