Le Rosey has strict security measures. Our Summer camp directors and managers are members of Le Rosey teaching staff during the academic year and are professionals of a prestigious boarding school.
Since 1980, Le Rosey Summer Camps have enabled thousands of children to grow and develop in a secure and healthy environment. Supervision and security procedures both on and off campus are regularly revised. Students are fully briefed on what to do in case of fire and a fire drill is carried out at the beginning of each camp.
How are meals organized?
Meals are prepared by our own professional chefs who pay meticulous attention to quality, presentation and flavour to produce healthy, balanced menus.
Who deals with the children's health?
Our nurses are well experienced; a nurse is on call on campus 24 hours per day to deal with day-to-day ailments. Doctors' surgeries and very good hospitals are close by.
Which type of children do you accept at your camps?
Le Rosey Summer Camps accepts children from all over the world; however, in order to maintain an authentic international intake, we have a quota policy on nations or group of nations. English and French are the two official languages at camp; these are taught in class and used throughout each day.
How are arrivals organized?
Children are met by our staff at Geneva airport and driven to Rolle or Gstaad. At the end of camp, children are accompanied to the airport and our staff will help them check in for their flight home.
Where are your camps situated?
Le Rosey offers 5 different camps which take place on two campuses:
- In Rolle, midway between Geneva and Lausanne; Le Rosey is situated between Lake Geneva and the Jura mountains and is set in 30 hectares which offer exceptional sports, academic and boarding facilities
- In Gstaad and Schönried, on Le Rosey's winter campus which has 14 chalets set against the backdrop of one of Switzerland's most beautiful Alpine resorts
- The Excellence Camp has an itinerant programme both in the Swiss Alps and the Mediterranean.
How many children come to your camps and what age are they?
Each camp has its own age recommendations and limit on numbers.
Gstaad My Family: 80 boys and girls aged 9 to 15
Gstaad My Adventure: 80 boys and girls aged 12 to 18
Excellence Camp: 10 boys and girls aged 12 to 16
Classic Camp: 280 boy and girls aged 9 to 16
Summer School: 220 boys and girls aged 9 to 16
Where are the teachers from and how are staff selected?
Our staff teams are made up in part by regular Rosey teachers, some of whom have been working with us for more than 30 years. All our teachers are qualified and enthusiastic to share their expertise. Lessons are taught in either French or English and use teaching methods commensurate to a summer camp setting (IT, theatre, research, themed excursions, roleplay). Sports and Arts instructors, selected for their technical knowhow, maturity, sense of authority and ethical behaviour, are often young and enthusiastic men and women keen to share their sporting and artistic passions with their young students.
What is the accommodation like?
All our rooms are spacious (around 25m2) twins with ensuite. A minisafe is provided per occupant. All bedding and towels are provided by Le Rosey.
What about supervision in the boarding house?
The teachers live in apartments in the boarding houses such that each floor has staff present; we aim to create a family atmosphere, to ensure the wellbeing of each child and to have a permanent presence to maintain order and security. Each boarding house has a "chef de maison" and each camp has a married couple as directors.
May I visit my child during camp?
Visits can be arranged at the weekend as long as we are informed in advance. Children may leave from Saturday 12.30 with their parents and need to check in by Sunday 6.00 pm; this is not possible for the Excellence Camp. Invitations should be sent to the Director no later than Friday lunchtime for that weekend. The Director will request to meet the person who is responsible for the child when the child leaves. An official weekend departure form (which outlines the legal implications of the invitation and which must provide a contact number) must be completed.
